The art of conversation and small talk does not come easily in a language one is grappling with. What are safe topics and which ones are taboo? Is it safe, for example, to discuss football if you are in a pub in Munich? Or is it OK to ask if one is married or not? What are the cultural nuances that one needs to be aware of? Did you know, for example, that it is not right to wish someone before his birthday in Germany, but it is acceptable to do so in most other countries? These are some aspects we look at in this course, learning all the time from each other’s cultures. This programme could be done as an extended course or as a one-day workshop.
